Italy

Turni, Umbria, Italy

We stayed in a former tiny cloister on the hill overlooking the town. They called it "La Romita". Which, as I recall, means little remote place. It was surrounded by olive groves. It is still being used as an art school.

I have taken three watercolor workshops in Italy. They were led by Charlotte Britton. She was an advocate of making a journal on every trip. So that was when I finally started filling sketchbooks. I love painting in plein air. The two times I tried plein air before that first workshop with Charlotte, I was rained out. It was mostly sunny in Italy.
